One of the Most Beautiful Villages in Italy, located on the left bank of the Nera River. The origins of this ancient village, set within the enchanting landscape of the Nera River Park, date back to the Roman family of the Arroni, who built the castle between the 9th and 10th centuries. The castle was fortified with massive walls and watchtowers, which have been preserved to this day.
Originally conceived as a defensive stronghold for the Valnerina, the oldest part of Arrone, known as “La Terra”, retains its medieval layout. Passing through Porta San Giovanni, the ancient gateway to the castle, visitors enter a place where time seems to stand still: stone buildings, streets, and alleys weave between mighty walls and watchtowers.
Notable landmarks include the Civic Bell Tower with six arches and the Lombard tower with a square base, crowned by an ancient olive tree growing on its summit.

Church of San Giovanni Battista: A Gothic masterpiece adorned with 15th-century Umbrian school frescoes, such as the vividly decorated “Crucifixion.”
Church of Santa Maria Assunta: Located at the base of the castle, this artistic gem features a 15th-century portal and 16th-century frescoes attributed to Vincenzo Tamagni, Giovanni da Spoleto, and Jacopo Siculo. The perimeter niches display additional 16th-century frescoes and terracotta works.
